The Toledo Blade was established in 1835 and is the oldest continuing business in Toledo, predating the city's incorporation.

The Blade received the Pulitzer Prize in 2004 for its extensive investigative report uncovering improprieties during the Vietnam War.

The newspaper was owned by the Locke family until 1926, when Block Communications, Inc. purchased it; the company currently operates cable and broadcast television stations, publishes two daily newspapers, and employs 3,000 people.

The Ohio House of Representatives applauds The Blade on its 175th anniversary and salutes its management and staff as exemplary Ohioans.

The Clerk of the House of Representatives will transmit an authenticated copy of the resolution to The Blade.
