Katie Spotz, age 22, rowed 2,817 miles solo from Dakar, Senegal to Georgetown, Guyana across the Atlantic Ocean in 70 days, 5 hours, and 22 minutes, becoming the youngest person to row across an ocean alone.

Spotz is the first American to row a boat under her own power from mainland to mainland, and raised money for the Blue Planet Run Foundation during her voyage.

Prior athletic achievements include bicycling across the United States and becoming the first person to swim the length of the Allegheny River.

The Ohio House of Representatives commends Spotz on her personal success and extends best wishes for her future.
