Establishes nutritional standards for individual food items sold in school vending machines: less than 200 calories, not more than 30% calories from fat (except unsalted nuts/seeds), not more than 10% from saturated and trans fat, and not more than 35% of total weight from processed sugar.

Restricts beverages sold in vending machines to: unflavored water, milk (including flavored varieties), fruit or vegetable juices with at least 50% juice and no added sweeteners, fruit-based beverages with at least 35% fruit and no added sweeteners, and electrolyte replacement beverages.

Prohibits carbonated beverages and beverages exceeding 150 calories per serving in vending machines; limits non-water beverages to 12-ounce containers maximum.

Prohibits school districts from entering contracts requiring sale of non-compliant foods or beverages in vending machines; exempts vending machines accessible only to employees from these standards.

Requires school district boards to adopt standards for all food and beverages sold on school premises and forbids exemptions from these nutritional requirements under innovative education pilot programs.
