Director of Transportation must create a survey in coordination with the safe routes to school program regarding school transportation safety policies and nonmotorized transportation options for students living within two miles of school.

All city, local, exempted village, and joint vocational school districts, community schools under Chapter 3314, and STEM schools under Chapter 3326 must complete and return the survey by a date specified by the director.

Community and STEM schools are exempt from the survey requirement if no students attending the school live within two miles of the school location.

Survey may request information including school locations and percentage of students living within two miles, existing transportation safety or nonmotorized transportation programs, completed safety or traffic studies, student surveys regarding transportation modes, and other factors the director determines appropriate.

Director must compile survey results and publish findings on the Department of Transportation's website within 90 days of the section's effective date.
