Notes that obesity rates have increased dramatically since the mid-1970s for children and adults, becoming a national health concern.

Identifies Ohio as the fifth-heaviest state in the nation with nearly two-thirds of residents overweight or obese.

References Governor Ted Strickland's directive to the Ohio Department of Health Office of Healthy Ohio to develop a comprehensive state obesity prevention plan published in 2009, and 2008 grants awarded to county health departments for obesity awareness and prevention efforts.

Directs the Clerk of the Senate to transmit authenticated copies of the resolution to Ohio news media.
