Newly elected county recorders must complete at least 15 hours of continuing education in their first year and at least 8 hours each year for the remaining term.

County recorders elected to subsequent terms must complete at least 8 hours of continuing education in each year of their term.

The Ohio recorders' association must approve courses, record completion, and report results to the State Auditor; failure to complete requirements generates an informational notice only.

County recorders who teach approved courses receive credit equal to attending the course.

County boards of commissioners must approve reasonable funding requests from county recorders to cover continuing education costs including registration, lodging, meals, and travel.
