School districts may adopt resolutions authorizing the sale of commercial advertising space on the outside surfaces of school buses through a competitive bidding process.

Advertisements must be displayed as signs attached to the bus surface; painting advertisements directly on buses is prohibited.

School districts must establish a committee of administrators and attorneys to approve all advertisements and prohibit sales for alcohol, tobacco, gambling, sexual content, and political purposes.

State highway patrol regulations and school bus inspections cannot restrict advertising displayed in compliance with this section, and buses cannot fail inspection solely due to lawful advertisements.

Donated or district-owned advertising space on buses is subject to the same content restrictions as paid commercial advertising.
