Sub. H.B. No. 433 Summary

• Abolishes Sandusky County County Court effective January 1, 2013, and creates a Sandusky County Municipal Court with jurisdiction over most of Sandusky County (excluding Bellevue, Fremont municipalities and specific townships).

• Abolishes Trumbull County County Court effective January 1, 2013, and creates a Trumbull County Municipal Court with one full-time judgeship to be nominated by petition and elected in 2017 for a six-year term.

• Establishes the clerk of courts for Sandusky and Trumbull counties as the respective municipal court clerks, with compensation at one-fourth the rate of common pleas court clerks.

• Transfers all pending cases, records, employees, and property from the abolished county courts to the new municipal courts, with parties permitted to amend pleadings as necessary.

• Requires both county court judges to be nominated by petition rather than primary election, with the Trumbull County judge's initial term commencing January 1, 2013.
