Ohio House of Representatives recognizes 2011 as the International Year of Chemistry, as declared by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2008.

Acknowledges chemistry's critical role in understanding matter, controlling living processes, and solving global problems related to water, food, energy, health, and the environment.

Notes that Ohio and American high school students are falling behind major European and Asian countries in math and science scores, with fewer pursuing technical degrees.

Encourages Ohioans to participate in programs, events, and activities related to the International Year of Chemistry to increase public appreciation and interest in STEM education.

Directs the Clerk of the House to transmit a copy of the resolution to the Ohio Committee of the American Chemical Society.
