Substitute Senate Bill 171 Summary

• Amends multiple Ohio Revised Code sections to implement sunset review committee recommendations by abolishing, terminating, transferring, or renewing various state agencies that were subject to review, with expiration dates of December 31, 2016

• Repeals numerous codified and uncodified sections of law related to agencies including the workers' compensation council, school employees health care board, and various advisory boards and commissions

• Reestablishes the sunset review committee to operate during the 131st General Assembly (rather than 128th) to conduct ongoing reviews of state agencies on a four-year cycle

• Transfers duties and authority of certain abolished entities to successor agencies, including transfer of the interagency council on Hispanic-Latino affairs duties to the commission on Hispanic-Latino affairs

• Declares the act an emergency measure due to the immediate need to prevent confusion regarding agency authority before the sunset review law takes effect on July 1, 2011
