S.B. 175 Summary

• Prohibits community schools from admitting students from their home school district if the student's assigned district building has a better performance rating than the community school, unless the student has a disability or the district building principal approves admission.

• Exempts students with disabilities entitled to special education services under Chapter 3323 from the admission restriction.

• Excludes community school performance ratings from their first two years of operation when determining if the school is subject to this restriction.

• Allows community schools to continue enrolling students who were admitted before the school became subject to this restriction.

• Amends section 3314.06 and enacts section 3314.062 of the Revised Code to establish these admission limitations.
