OH SB29

Amends Ohio Revised Code section 4511.21 to impose a fine of two times the usual amount for speeding violations occurring in school zones during recess or while children are entering or leaving school during opening or closing hours.

The doubled fine applies only to violations of the speed limit while passing through a school zone during restricted hours; the base speeding violation penalties remain unchanged.

Exempts offenders from the doubled fine if they allege and the court determines they are indigent and unable to pay the increased penalty.

Maintains all existing speed limit regulations, definitions of school zones, and other provisions of section 4511.21 with only the addition of the school zone fine enhancement.

Repeals the existing section 4511.21 and replaces it with the amended version containing the school zone fine doubling provision.
