S.B. No. 360 Summary

• Requires employers at health care facilities, mental health institutions, developmental disability residences, hospitals, hospices, and other specified facilities to notify employees of bed bug or lice infestations on the premises.

• Applies to employees who provide services on a full-time, part-time, or contract basis, but excludes volunteers and those performing only repair, maintenance, or delivery services.

• Authorizes the Director of Health to establish rules defining what constitutes evidence of infestation, procedures for employee notification, and other standards necessary to implement the requirement.

• Establishes a civil penalty of up to $100 per violation day for employers who fail to notify employees, separate from criminal penalties that apply to other health code violations.

• Applies the notification requirement to maternity units, hospices, group homes, hospitals, addiction treatment facilities, mental health institutions, developmental disability facilities, county homes, and community corrections facilities.
