The Ohio Supreme Court established a pilot project in 2008 allowing designated courts of common pleas to create commercial dockets for business litigation between business entities.

Commercial dockets create judicial expertise in business matters, promote consistency in case decisions, and allow general-jurisdiction courts to function more efficiently by removing complex business cases from their dockets.

The commercial docket pilot project is scheduled to expire on June 30, 2013.

The resolution encourages the Ohio Supreme Court to adopt Rules of Superintendence for the Courts of Ohio to allow permanent establishment of commercial dockets in eligible courts of common pleas.

The resolution encourages eligible courts of common pleas to consider permanently establishing commercial dockets in their respective courts.
