Sub. H.B. No. 111 Summary

• Requires all state university boards of trustees and the Northeast Ohio Medical University board to adopt resolutions within 90 days determining whether student members will have voting power on the board.

• If voting power is granted to student members, they must also be counted toward a quorum and permitted to attend executive sessions; if not granted, they retain observer status without voting, quorum, or executive session attendance.

• Permits boards to change student voting status at any time through subsequent resolutions, with changes taking effect on specified dates for each institution.

• Removes restrictions preventing scholarship recipients and student employees (including graduate assistants) from serving as voting student trustees; such participation does not violate conflict of interest statutes.

• Applies uniformly across Ohio State University, Ohio University, Miami University, Bowling Green State University, Kent State University, Central State University, Cleveland State University, Northeast Ohio Medical University, Wright State University, Youngstown State University, University of Akron, University of Cincinnati, Shawnee State University, and University of Toledo.
