Each state institution of higher education must develop and implement a policy to advise students and staff on suicide prevention programs available on and off campus.

Required policy components include crisis intervention access with national, state, and local hotline information; mental health program access information; multimedia application access with warning signs and free resources; student communication and outreach plans; and postvention plans for communicating with students, staff, and parents after a student suicide.

All incoming students must receive information about depression and suicide prevention resources, including available mental health services, support services, and student-run organizations for at-risk or affected individuals.

Information on crisis intervention, mental health programs, multimedia applications, and student communication plans must be posted on each institution's website, with free-of-cost materials also posted on the board of regents and department of mental health and addiction services websites.

The department of mental health and addiction services must review all posted materials or programs on an annual basis.
