S.B. 266 Summary

• Enacts section 3319.46 requiring the state board of education to adopt rules establishing policy and standards for positive behavior intervention supports and the use of physical restraint or seclusion on students in schools.

• Amends sections 3314.03, 3326.11, and 3328.24 to require community schools, science/technology/engineering/mathematics schools, and college-preparatory boarding schools to comply with section 3319.46 regarding restraint and seclusion policies.

• Each school district board of education must comply with the state board's policy and standards for positive behavior intervention supports and use of physical restraint or seclusion.

• Repeals existing versions of sections 3314.03, 3326.11, and 3328.24 and modifies the version of 3326.11 scheduled to take effect July 1, 2014 to include section 3319.46 compliance requirements.
