Recognizes June 15 as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day in Ohio

Notes that more than one in ten persons over age 60 (approximately six million individuals) are victims of elder abuse annually, with the vast majority going unreported

Highlights that only one in forty-four cases of financial abuse of older adults is reported, resulting in at least $2.9 billion taken from older adults each year

Recognizes judges, lawyers, law enforcement officers, social workers, health care providers, and other professionals for their efforts to advance awareness of elder abuse

Encourages public members and professionals working with older adults to promote awareness and prevention of elder abuse by contacting local adult protective services agencies and learning to recognize and report abuse
