OH HB204

Prohibits the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission from recommending and the Attorney General from adopting rules that limit the number of hours for basic peace officer training.

Requires all persons newly appointed to a peace officer position on or after the effective date to have received a high school diploma or certificate of high school equivalence.

Maintains existing training requirements including domestic violence handling, crisis intervention training, and missing children/child abuse and neglect case training for all peace officers.

Applies to all county, township, municipal, and state peace officer positions, park officers, conservancy district employees, university law enforcement officers, and various specialized police officer positions.

Exempts persons appointed prior to the effective date of the amendment from the high school diploma requirement, allowing them to be reappointed without meeting this new qualification.
