Substitute House Bill 276 Summary

• Authorizes chiropractors to administer, sell, distribute, recommend, or provide advice regarding vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, antioxidants, enzymes, glandular extracts, botanical substances, herbal therapies, homeopathic remedies, nonprescription drugs, and durable and nondurable medical goods and devices (excluding home medical equipment).

• Requires all products provided by chiropractors to be prepackaged for consumer use and labeled in accordance with state and federal law.

• Prohibits chiropractors from delegating these activities to unlicensed individuals and preserves the authority of other licensed health care professionals (including dietitians) to engage in the same activities.

• Maintains existing restrictions preventing chiropractors from treating infectious or contagious diseases, performing surgery, prescribing drugs, administering dangerous drugs, performing abortions, or performing acupuncture (except those holding a valid acupuncture certificate).

• Allows chiropractors to continue using roentgen rays for diagnostic purposes only.
