HB 445 Summary

• Prohibits public and nonpublic secondary schools from denying students participation in extracurricular activities solely because the student is enrolled in the College Credit Plus program.

• Students in community schools, STEM schools, nonpublic schools, or receiving home instruction cannot be denied extracurricular participation at their entitled school based on CCP enrollment, provided they meet applicable requirements.

• Schools must provide comprehensive counseling and information to students in grades 6-11 and their parents about program eligibility, consequences, financial arrangements, and benefits before participation.

• Establishes that textbooks purchased for CCP courses are property of the entity that paid for them; students must return textbooks at the end of each term if they did not purchase them.

• Creates procedures for handling expelled students enrolled in CCP, including college withdrawal of acceptance, tuition/fee refunds, and determination of high school credit awards based on the school's expulsion policies.
