H.B. 516 Summary

• Requires courts to issue mutual restraining orders on both parties automatically upon filing a complaint for divorce, annulment, or legal separation

• Restrains both spouses from obstructing parenting time, removing minor children from court jurisdiction (except for temporary vacation/travel), or disparaging the other spouse to children

• Prohibits either spouse from selling, transferring, or disposing of marital property, real or personal, including household goods and vehicles, without written consent or court order

• Restricts changes to insurance policies (health, automobile, life, disability, home, fire) and retirement or pension plans that cover a spouse or children

• Prevents withdrawals from joint or individual bank accounts and retirement funds (IRA, 401(k), etc.), except wages, and prohibits incurring debt on the other spouse's credit cards or lines of credit
