State Board of Education is prohibited from adopting Common Core State Standards academic content standards for English language arts and mathematics, and cannot use PARCC or Smarter Balanced assessments.

Any previous actions taken to adopt or implement Common Core standards are declared void as of the bill's effective date.

School district boards are granted sole authority to adopt academic content standards exceeding state board standards, and no state official may cede control over standards development to federal or private entities.

State board must provide 90 days public notice and hold a public hearing in each congressional district before adopting or revising academic content standards.

No state funds shall be withheld from school districts or schools for failure to adopt or use state academic content standards or state assessments.
