OH SB30

Creates the Ohio Family Stability Commission within the Department of Job and Family Services, consisting of 4 general assembly members and 21 appointed individuals representing government agencies, private citizens, or elected officials.

Commission membership includes 2 senate members and 2 house members appointed by legislative leaders from different political parties, plus 21 governor-appointed members with expertise in areas including out-of-wedlock births, divorce, education, employment, child support/custody, domestic violence, criminal justice, faith-based initiatives, fatherhood programs, nonprofit management, and communications.

Year 1: Commission conducts research and formulates recommendations to the general assembly and state agencies on reducing divorce rates, births outside marriage, and domestic violence rates, and addressing child custody and support issues.

Years 2-4: Commission advises on implementation of recommendations, monitors progress, and issues reports to the general assembly at the end of years 3 and 4.

Commission automatically repeals 4 years after the effective date (49 months after enactment).
