Sub. S.B. No. 332 Summary

• Implements recommendations from the Commission on Infant Mortality by establishing the Help Me Grow program with home visiting services, central intake and referral systems, and an Ohio Home Visiting Consortium to improve maternal and child health outcomes

• Authorizes pharmacists to administer by injection certain prescribed drugs including opioid antagonists, antipsychotics, progesterone compounds, and cobalamin upon meeting training and certification requirements

• Allows controlled desertion of children not older than thirty days without criminal liability; establishes newborn safety incubators at law enforcement agencies, hospitals, and emergency medical services organizations

• Creates reporting requirements and scorecards for infant mortality, preterm birth, and stillbirth rates delineated by race, ethnicity, and geography to track progress in high-risk communities

• Requires hospitals and freestanding birthing centers to offer long-acting reversible contraceptive placement after delivery and mandates cultural competency training for health care professionals regarding health disparities
