HB 122 Summary

• Establishes a Regional Economic Development Alliance Study Committee to examine the benefits and challenges of creating regional economic development alliances that enhance collaboration, share services, and mobilize resources among members.

• Committee consists of 6 voting members (3 House members, 3 Senate members, Governor or designee, 2 academics, 2 economic development professionals) and 6 nonvoting members from regional organizations and advocacy groups.

• Committee must submit findings and recommendations to the Governor, Speaker, and President of Senate within one year of effective date, then ceases to exist.

• Amends liquor permit criteria for D-5j and D-5l permits to revise population thresholds and development investment requirements for community entertainment districts and revitalization districts.

• Ratifies a ten-year fire levy approved at the 2017 general election and extends authority for municipalities to levy a single property tax for combined fire and police purposes, retroactively ratifying previously approved voter-authorized levies.
