Probate courts must request written consent from juvenile courts before proceeding with adoption petitions for children under temporary custody or protective supervision of children services agencies.

Juvenile courts must notify all parties upon receiving an adoption jurisdiction request, and parties may object within seven days and request a hearing.

Juvenile courts must schedule hearings within 30 days of objections and determine whether to grant consent to probate court jurisdiction within 90 days of the initial request.

Probate courts gain exclusive jurisdiction over preadoption placements once juvenile courts grant consent, and temporary custody or protective supervision orders terminate when the probate court approves placement.

Courts may enter posthumous final adoption decrees if a child dies after placement in an adoptive home, unless the adoptive parent was convicted of a crime resulting in the child's death.
