Sub. H.B. No. 572 Summary

• Enacts section 145.018 of the Revised Code to grant full-year service credit to Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) members employed by county boards of developmental disabilities in positions that would be covered by the School Employees Retirement System (SERS) if employed elsewhere, provided they work full-time for at least nine months and receive monthly pay throughout the year.

• Applies retroactively to PERS members for the period beginning January 1, 2017, through the effective date of the section if they received less than full-year credit during that period and the county auditor reports their employment details to PERS within 90 days of the section's effective date.

• Amends numerous sections of the Revised Code governing the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), State Teachers Retirement System (STRS), School Employees Retirement System (SERS), and Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund to revise definitions, eligibility requirements, and administrative procedures.

• Repeals five obsolete code sections (3307.23, 3307.241, 3307.96, 3307.97, and 3307.98) related to state teachers retirement system provisions.

• Harmonizes section 145.332 (PERS retirement eligibility) as a composite of amendments from both Sub. H.B. 158 and Sub. S.B. 293 of the 131st General Assembly.
