HB 576 - Minimum Wage Increase Summary

• Establishes a phased increase in Ohio's minimum wage from $12.00/hour (2019) to $15.00/hour by January 1, 2025, with 50-cent increments occurring annually on January 1 from 2019-2024

• Requires the director of commerce to adjust the $15.00 minimum wage annually beginning September 30, 2025, based on inflation in accordance with Ohio Constitution Article II, Section 34a

• Allows employers to pay tipped employees at a rate not less than half the minimum wage if tips combined with wages equal or exceed the required minimum wage rate

• Prohibits political subdivisions from establishing minimum wage rates different from the state minimum wage

• Repeals section 4111.07 and amends sections 4111.02, 4111.09, and 4111.14 of the Revised Code to implement the new wage requirements, employer notification obligations, and employee wage record maintenance requirements
