Requires long-term services and supports providers with special dementia programs or that market dementia services to provide mandatory dementia training to employees in three categories: supervisors, direct-care staff, and indirect-care staff.

Supervisors must complete 8 hours of dementia training within first 120 hours of employment (at least 2 hours within first 40 hours), plus 2 hours annually thereafter.

Direct-care staff must complete 8 hours within first 120 hours of employment (at least 4 hours within first 40 hours), plus 2 hours annually; indirect-care staff must complete 4 hours within first 160 hours, plus 2 hours annually.

Training must cover 11 specified topics including person-centered care, dementia information, communication skills, behavioral interventions, medication management, pain assessment, and family dynamics; must be evidence-based with competency evaluations and interactive learning techniques.

Limits unfacilitated online or video presentations to 4 of 8 hours for supervisors and direct-care staff, and 2 of 4 hours for indirect-care staff; prohibits direct care by untrained staff unless supervised by trained personnel.
