• Health benefit plans issued, modified, or renewed after the bill's effective date must cover acupuncture, chiropractic, massage therapy, and physical therapy when prescribed by a physician, advanced practice registered nurse, or physician assistant as alternatives to opioid analgesics.

• Health benefit plans cannot impose limits on the number of visits covered for these alternative services.

• The Medicaid program must provide coverage for the same four services (acupuncture, chiropractic, massage therapy, and physical therapy) when prescribed as opioid alternatives, with no visit limits for recipients.

• All covered services must be provided by individuals authorized by Ohio Revised Code to deliver those specific services.

• Medicaid managed care organizations must comply with the same alternative treatment coverage requirements as the state Medicaid program when contracting with the Department of Medicaid.
