Recognizes April 2018 as Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month in Ohio.

Acknowledges that sexual assault affects women, men, and children across all demographic groups, with nearly 70% of crimes committed by individuals known to the victim.

Cites Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data showing approximately one in five women and one in seventy-one men in the United States experienced rape or attempted rape in their lifetime, with children and young adults at significant risk.

Notes that sexual assault survivors suffer long-term consequences including post-traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, depression, homelessness, eating disorders, and suicide.

Urges all Ohioans to participate in appropriate programs and activities in support of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month and directs the Clerk of the House to transmit copies of the resolution to Ohio news media.
