Substitute Senate Bill 25 Summary

• Establishes Perry County Municipal Court in New Lexington, effective January 1, 2018, replacing the Perry County County Court with one full-time judgeship nominated by petition only.

• Designates the Perry County Clerk of Courts as clerk of the Perry County Municipal Court and provides for election of the municipal court judge in 2017.

• Transfers all pending cases, proceedings, records, employees, and property from Perry County County Court to the new Perry County Municipal Court on January 1, 2018.

• Modifies the Criminal Justice Recodification Committee membership to clarify members serve until the committee ceases to exist under a separate statute.
