Attorney General shall develop recommendations for and create a statewide sexual assault examination kit tracking system in consultation with an advisory group on kit tracking.

Tracking system shall monitor kit status from collection at medical facilities through inventory by law enforcement, analysis at crime laboratories, and final storage or destruction.

All entities handling sexual assault examination kits must be able to update kit status and location in the system, with mandatory participation required within one year of system creation.

Individuals may anonymously access the tracking system to check the location and status of their own sexual assault examination kit.

Information in the tracking system is confidential and not subject to public disclosure, except for the anonymous victim access provision; Attorney General may contract with state or private entities and may adopt administrative rules to implement the system.
