SB 72 Summary

• Allows political subdivisions, special districts, and state institutions of higher education to voluntarily elect to apply Ohio's Prevailing Wage Law (Chapter 4115) to their public improvement projects

• Modifies the definition of "public authority" in prevailing wage statutes to clarify that political subdivisions, special districts, and higher education institutions are excluded unless they affirmatively elect to be covered

• Applies the prevailing wage requirements to construction contracts for capital improvements, correctional facilities, sports facilities, educational and cultural facilities, and transportation/special improvement projects where the entity elects coverage

• The amendments apply only to contracts entered into, renewed, or extended on or after the effective date of the act

• Provides exemptions to prevailing wage requirements that remain in effect for school districts, certain erosion control projects, and work performed with donated labor
