Requires public schools, community schools, and STEM schools to notify a parent or guardian within 120 minutes after the beginning of the school day if a student is absent without a legitimate excuse.

Establishes multiple approved notification methods including phone calls, automated calls, text messages, emails, in-person visits, student information system notifications, and other board-adopted procedures.

Eliminates the school's obligation to notify if the parent or guardian contacts the school first within the 120-minute window to report the absence.

Provides immunity from civil liability for schools and employees acting in good faith compliance with the notification requirement.

Exempts students in home-based or online instruction and those participating in approved off-campus activities like the College Credit Plus program.
