Katie Smith was inducted into the 2018 Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, recognized for her contributions to women's basketball.

At Ohio State University from 1992 to 1996, Smith scored 2,578 points in 124 games, set program records with 708 career free throws made and 845 attempted, and led the 1992-1993 team to the Final Four for the first and only time in school history.

Smith played professionally in the American Basketball League and Women's National Basketball Association for a combined 17 years, won WNBA championships with the Detroit Shock in 2006 and 2008, and earned Olympic gold medals with Team USA in 2000, 2004, and 2008.

After retiring as a player, Smith became an assistant coach for the New York Liberty in 2014 and was named the franchise's head coach in 2017; Ohio State retired her number 30 jersey in 2001.

The Ohio Senate commends Katie Smith on this accolade and directs the Clerk of the Senate to transmit an authenticated copy of the resolution to her.
