Department of Education shall make recommendations for school counselor job descriptions for school districts, community schools, and STEM schools based on state board of education standards

Recommended job descriptions shall specify that 80 percent of school counselor duties be direct and indirect services to students in academic, career, and social-emotional development, with 20 percent devoted to program planning and school support activities

Superintendent of public instruction shall designate at least one department employee to serve as a liaison for school counselors across the state

School districts, community schools, and STEM schools shall consider the department's recommendations when preparing job descriptions and assigning duties to their school counselors
