H.B. 711 Summary

• Amends Ohio Revised Code sections 4765.01, 4765.11, 4765.30, 4765.35, 4765.37, 4765.38, 4765.39, 4765.41, and 4766.01 to clarify the scope of emergency medical services provided by EMS personnel.

• Expands the definition of "emergency medical service" to explicitly include services performed before or during transport, including inter-hospital transports and transports to/from helicopters.

• Adds "Advanced practice registered nurse" to the list of providers who can authorize EMS services and issue do-not-resuscitate orders to EMS personnel under section 2133.211 of the Revised Code.

• Establishes that EMS personnel authorized to perform services are determined by the state board of emergency medical, fire, and transportation services through rulemaking under section 4765.11.
