Allows municipal corporations to require fire chiefs or police chiefs to reside within the municipality during their first five years of service.

Requires the chief to become a resident within six months of beginning service as chief.

Amends existing Ohio law that generally prohibits political subdivisions from requiring employee residency to create this limited exception for fire and police chiefs.

Does not apply to volunteer firefighters or other municipal employees beyond fire and police chiefs.

Changes apply to sections 9.481, 9.61, 737.08, and 737.22 of the Revised Code governing firefighting agencies and municipal fire departments.
