• Ohio enacts the Nurse Licensure Compact, approved by the Interstate Commission in May 2015, allowing nurses licensed in one party state to practice in other participating states under a multistate license.

• Establishes requirements for multistate license eligibility including passing NCLEX exams, meeting education standards, submitting to criminal background checks, and maintaining an active unencumbered license.

• Creates the Interstate Commission of Nurse Licensure Compact Administrators with representatives from each party state to promulgate uniform rules, collect licensure and disciplinary information, and oversee compact administration.

• Grants party states authority to take adverse actions against nurses' multistate licensure privileges and requires prompt reporting of disciplinary actions through a coordinated licensure information system accessible to all party states.

• Specifies the compact becomes effective upon enactment by 26 states or December 31, 2018, requires Ohio's Board of Nursing to appoint an administrator within 30 days, and allows withdrawal by states with six months' notice.
