• The concurrent resolution denounces all forms of stigmatization, racism, and discrimination occurring as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

• The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that people of Asian descent are especially vulnerable to stigmatization due to COVID-19, while emphasizing that virus transmission is not connected to race or ethnicity.

• Stigma can result in social avoidance, denial of health care and employment, physical violence, and can drive people to hide illness and avoid seeking medical care.

• The resolution establishes that members of the 133rd General Assembly have a responsibility to speak out and advocate on behalf of people experiencing stigma as a result of COVID-19.
