Dixie J. Allen was appointed to the Ohio House of Representatives in 1998 and elected later that year, serving four terms on committees including Financial Institutions, Real Estate and Securities, Finance and Appropriations, and Education.

In 2006, Allen was elected to serve as a member of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners and was active with organizations including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Women in Leadership, the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus, and the NAACP.

Allen worked as a civilian employee in data automation and personnel management for the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson, Los Angeles, and Andrews air force bases before her legislative career.

The House of Representatives expresses profound sense of loss and sincere regret at Allen's death and pays tribute to her legacy of care and commitment to her family, friends, and community.

The Clerk of the House shall transmit an authenticated copy of this resolution to the family of Dixie J. Allen.
