OH SB219

Establishes a career pathways apprentice program for high school students in grades 9-12 to be developed and administered by the Department of Education in conjunction with the Department of Higher Education, the council office, and the state workforce development board.

Requires the program to create partnerships between schools, businesses, communities, local government entities, and nonprofits to develop apprenticeship career pathways in manufacturing, information technology, financial services, business operations, healthcare, and education.

Mandates the program provide information and technical assistance to high school students who enroll and reduce obstacles to ensure compatibility with existing high school work-study requirements.

Permits the program to incorporate or coordinate with existing apprentice and pre-apprentice programs already operating under Chapter 4139 or section 3313.904 of the Revised Code.

Requires the Department of Education to adopt administrative rules for the program in conjunction with other specified state entities.
