Requires mandatory minimum fine of $1,500 and 40 hours of community service for first-degree misdemeanor assault against sports officials in the specified circumstances.

Defines "sports official" as any person paid or volunteering to enforce rules as referee, umpire, linesperson, timer, scorekeeper, or similar capacity, and "sports event" to include interscholastic, intramural, organized, professional, and semiprofessional athletic activities.

Allows prosecution for more serious felony charges (felonious assault or aggravated assault) involving sports officials without being precluded by the assault statute provisions.
