Substitute House Bill 578 Summary

• Creates multiple new specialty license plates including "Recovery is Beautiful," "Paul Laurence Dunbar," "Ohio Conference of Teamsters," "Playhouse Square," "Ohio Bird Sanctuary," "Ohio Sons of the American Legion," "P.A.W.S.," "American Legion," "Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program," "Shriners," "Ohio House Rabbit Rescue," "Revere Local Schools," "Stephen T. Badin High School," "Bishop Hartley High School," "Creative Ohio," and "Chardon High School State Football Champs" license plates.

• Establishes a License Plate Contribution Fund in the state treasury that collects and distributes contributions from specialty license plate registrations to designated charitable organizations, educational institutions, and advocacy groups.

• Designates numerous memorial highways and bridges throughout Ohio honoring military personnel, law enforcement officers, veterans, and other notable Ohioans.

• Specifies contribution amounts ($10-$30 per application/renewal) for each specialty plate type and designates recipient organizations for the funds collected.

• Amends existing sections related to specialty license plates and memorial designations in the Ohio Revised Code.
