Substitute House Bill 67 Summary

• Department of Education shall not publish state report card ratings, assign letter grades, or rank schools for the 2020-2021 school year, with results reported by October 14, 2021.

• Absence of 2020-2021 report card ratings shall not affect sanctions or penalties, and previous penalties from prior years shall remain in effect for the 2021-2022 school year.

• Schools are not required to administer the American history end-of-course examination in 2020-2021, and students not tested shall not be excluded from enrollment counts or scholarship renewal eligibility.

• Students in twelfth grade or on track to graduate may receive diplomas if principals determine they completed curriculum requirements, with final course grades convertible to skill levels for end-of-course exam requirements.

• Department of Education shall seek a waiver from the U.S. Secretary of Education for federal accountability and school identification requirements under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act for the 2020-2021 school year.
