H.B. 722 - Parents' Bill of Rights

• Requires school districts to notify parents prior to instruction using sexually explicit content and identify specific materials and subjects involved.

• Allows parents to review sexually explicit instructional materials and request alternative instruction without such content for their student.

• Mandates notification to parents of any changes in student services or monitoring related to mental, emotional, or physical health, with limited exceptions only when disclosure would result in abuse, abandonment, or neglect (not based on religious or political beliefs).

• Prohibits school personnel from encouraging students to withhold information about their health or well-being from parents and discouraging parental involvement in critical decisions affecting students.

• Requires schools to notify parents at the beginning of each school year about health care services offered and work with parents to create an approved health care plan for each student.
