Designates May as "Maternal Mortality Awareness Month" in Ohio.

Requires hospitals and freestanding birthing centers to conduct annual continuing education for employees and contractors on severe maternal hypertension, obstetric hemorrhage, and two additional prevalent obstetric complications identified by the pregnancy-associated mortality review board.

Directs the director of health to monitor compliance with continuing education requirements and inspect facility records to verify completion of education activities.

Requires the department of health to collaborate with the Ohio perinatal quality collaborative to develop initiatives addressing birth equity, reducing racial and ethnic disparities in peripartum care, and implementing implicit bias training and cultural competency education for healthcare providers.

Mandates the department make available best practices for timely identification of pregnant and postpartum women in emergency departments and for appropriate obstetric consultation, which may be provided through telemedicine services.
