Defines "surgical smoke" as airborne byproducts from energy-generating surgical devices, including smoke plume, bioaerosols, gases, laser-generated contaminants, and dust

Defines "surgical smoke evacuation system" as equipment designed to capture and neutralize surgical smoke at the point of origin before contact with eyes or respiratory tract

Requires each ambulatory surgical facility to adopt and implement a policy within one year of the effective date to prevent human exposure to surgical smoke during planned procedures likely to generate smoke, including use of a surgical smoke evacuation system

Requires each hospital that performs surgeries to adopt and implement a similar policy within one year of the effective date to prevent surgical smoke exposure during planned surgical procedures likely to generate smoke

Authorizes the director of health to adopt rules necessary to implement these requirements in accordance with Chapter 119 of the Revised Code
